#10 -- Rich Wilson's Trans Am Tempest
"The Gray Ghost"
(click the image to go back)

Rich started his build with a Scale Coachworks resin
trans kit that was designed to use an AMT 1965 GTO as
a donor kit. Preferring the more robust detail of the
Revell1966 GTO kit's chassis, Rich adapted that slightly
larger platform. The Revell chassis needed slight shortening
and slight reshaping of the rear wheel wells to fit the
resin body. To acheive the proper stance of a Trans Am
terror, Rich radically lowered the front and rear suspensions.
The tires were sourced from old MPC NASCAR kits and the
wheels from the Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland.
Alclad-II paint imparted an authentic finish to the resin
Minilite wheels and gave the front and rear bumpers a
realistic race-worn appearance.
